I’m looking to buy an Apple remote to turn on my Mac Mini Late 2012 model.

Will the original Apple TV remote work with it?

    The one for the computer is here the aluminium Apple TV Remote.

    Any Apple TV remote in IR mode will work. You should be able to find the aluminium one cheap on ebay if you don’t want to spend $20 on Amazon. I have a box of them from the Mac’s and Apple TV’s I have purchased.

      Thank you. The thing is, I want a power button to press on the remote. I don’t want to keep reaching behind the Mac mini to turn it on. I’m just after the IR function.

        There is no remote that can that power on the Mini if it has been shutdown you can only wake it from sleep.

    Worked with the 6xx, 5x000 and 6x000 series Macs with or without the tv tuner. Did indeed turn on and turn off the computer. As stated before it also worked with some Sony tvs and cd players.
