Hit volume up, volume down, and then hold power button down until it force reboots. You’re in DFU mode for some reason.

My guess is OP tried to plug the phone in before it was dry and fried the SSD (or whatever apple uses for their storage) or something on the board having to do with storage. But if not, I’ve pulled devices out of recovery and DFU modes using iMazing quite a few times. You get familiar with doing it when jailbreaking checkm8 devices (iPhone X, 6s, iPad Pro 10.5”).

Yeah, in my experience I just let it drain and did what you said in another comment. But like how do you accidentally swim for it long enough for it to damage it? Like isn’t it an hour for ip68?

I’m guessing what happened is they charged it before it was dry. Even if it didn’t get inside the phone, and was only in the lightning port, it could have fried something. Best guess anyways.

Your phone has gone into DFU mode and needs the OS restored. If you followed the instructions and connected it to a machine running iTunes or tried the restore option in Finder on a Mac and it didn’t detect the phone, then you may have some contamination on your Lightning port.
