I have had my fold 4 for a little over 13 months, and expected it to last me at the very least 2 years. I recently got the inner screen protector replaced, as it was starting to peel up along the crease. Fine, Best Buy did an alright job of honoring my warranty after 3 visits to the place (4 including the pickup time, when they made me wait in the store for an extra hour).

A couple nights ago, I laid down in bed to open YouTube, and my whole large screen was dark after I opened the phone up. It seems that the inner screen mechanism for detecting when the phone is shut or open is faulty (because the screen still works in “laptop” mode and only goes black if I open it all the way). If anyone knows how to prevent something like this from happening again, I’ll just hold onto the phone for another year before replacing it. I’m planning on getting it repaired, but I want to replace it with the S23 Ultra if it’s just going to break before I’m ready for a new phone.

Does anybody think I should just replace the phone without waiting to get it repaired?

I personally went without my inner screen protector on my Fold 2 for the whole three years I used it. I did however jump to the S23U instead of the Fold 5 since I wasn’t impressed by the rate of innovation. The power and battery life of the S23U is absolutely amazing far surpassing anything I have ever used.
