This would be the second time that I would have to RMA my Steam Deck. I really don’t want to deal with this anymore, so I requested a refund, stating that I don’t want to continuously receive faulty products. I cited Valve’s Limited Warranty policy and my local laws, and yet they still will not give me a refund for a faulty product, only an RMA. They keep saying that I don’t qualify for a refund and only “users can request a refund, for any reason, within 14 days of purchasing a Steam Deck”, even when my laws clearly state to give the consumer a refund if a product is not as advertised, and in Valve’s policy they are ABLE to give a refund of the original purchase price instead of an RMA. They are insistent on only going through an RMA to get a replacement unit.

Has anyone else gotten a refund instead of an RMA? I saw some post here where at least one person did. Its really frustrating to deal with Steam Support right now, honestly, and some feedback would be appreciated!

Edit: Some extra details.

The product is not as advertised as “Valve warrants the Hardware to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under ordinary consumer use”. My Steam Deck started stuttering and freezing/crashing in verified and playable games, including Forza Horizon 5 and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. This is my current issue with the Steam Deck.

My first RMA was weird. I put the Steam Deck to sleep after closing all of my games with a charge of above 70% and the Deck never turned back on.

Have you reset to factory by reloading the OS?

I have had similar issues once and when I reloaded it all has been well.

Valve can only sell you the device. They’re not responsible for educating you on how computers work.

So 2 graphically demanding games are having performance issues and that constitutes an RMA?
