Hey all iv owned my steam deck since march. I love it i think its a great handheld. Im having a sound issue docked, headphones or even the speakers on the device. It crackles and it makes the console feel debilitated. If theirs any fix out there for this issue please tell me.
It’s definitely the update and not the update causing all this as I’ve been a Steam Decker since August 2022 Q3!
I was listening to Firefox on my Steam Deck in Gaming Mode. The sound went really scratchy and garbled. So I went directly into sound and just switched it to External and back to speakers, and then no sound even came forth!! Hahaha… So here what i did after 72 hours of tinkering, lol…
The FIX!!
Goto Desktop!
Turn off all Pro Audio Devices in Desktop mode and ensure Speaker’s is Default. [Also Select Speakers if they are not already] Then, make sure Chromium in the Sound Device list is umuted.
Now go to the store on the desktop and have a trailer from a game play and ensure that it is unmuted on the video.
In the midst of it playing, change back to gaming mode. From Desktop.
This should fix your issue. Is it a long time fix? I don’t know.
