Hi there,

I just discovered through this subreddit that using the fine liner extends the tips’ life, but no info on how long exactly ?

I just got my rM 2 and I like it a lot, I think I am going to use it like 6+ hours everyday, mainly for math problem solving. I ordered it from the U.S. since it’s not available in my country, so it’s not easy for me to get replacement items.

The reason fineliner may extend the life of your stylus nib is indirect. The fineliner always has the same thickness regardless of the pressure or angle you press the stylus on the screen. Therefore, you can make the most minimal pressure necessary for the device to register a stroke. This will cause less wear on the stylus nib.

So far I’ve been using the original nib that came in the reMarkable stylus for about four months. I don’t write on the tablet all day, maybe 30-45 minutes of actual writing each day.

This page has more details about my experiences with nibs, including my take on titanium nibs. Short version - I have them but I don’t use them, mostly because I noticed a very slight difference in how it feels, and because I don’t want to take any chances on damaging the screen.

I write about two pages of notes per day, every work day. My first nib lasted about 6 months, I think second will last even longer.
