I’ve used KDE in the past and it was my absolute favorite desktop environment…until I discovered gnome. The thing about gnome is that it’s UI is a fair bit cleaner, albeit less customizable in some ways, but it DOES have plenty of great features, especially a radial menu (flypie extension). Has anyone actually tried deactivating their KDE desktop and running gnome over it? I’ve done this in the past with regular PCs, but I just don’t want to risk messing anything up with the steam-os dual boot operation, because that would obviously prevent me from using the device…

    I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Assuming you don’t uninstall the KDE packages, you should be able to revert by just changing the default desktop session back to KDE if you run into any issues. You’re probably looking at needing an external keyboard before you manage to get everything set up right, mind.

    That said, are you aware of Kando? It is supposedly written by the author of Fly-Pie and is not tightly-knit to GNOME the way Fly-Pie is. There is an AUR package for it, so installation might actually be fairly easy (untested).
