Wondering what people’s suggestions would be should I get the current gen i7 or last gen i9?

Primarly use my pc for gaming a bit of video editing + work but when I upgrade my pc again in hopefully 5+ years I put the CPU, motherboard and memory into my home server that I use for my lab.

i9 is £460 i7 is £420

Not really - they’ll throttle if they run too hot. No need to artificially power limit. They’re engineered that way.

There are also plenty of air coolers than can handle 200-250W
