Mine phone is unlocked though bought from Spectrum Mobile. It’s a S23 running on OneUI 5.1. Question is when is OneUI 6 coming for S23 series in the US?

Yes, I do follow online news sources for any update on the issue. But so far no concrete information yet. Everybody just speculates.

Thanks in advance.

You’re waiting on Spectrum Mobile to push out their own version of the update since it’s been released in North America already.

I guess that’s the case. But again I’m not on Spectrum anymore but the phone still shows Spectrum logo while turning off and on the phone.

So it would appear your phone is SIM-unlocked but the software is still LOCKED to Spectrum. You’ll just need to put in a Spectrum SIM card in order to receive updates from now on. Even a deactivated SIM will still work, though you’ll need to connect to WiFi in this case. Your phone just needs to read info from the SIM to know where to pull the update from. Esim will not work if it’s a deactivated Spectrum line.

Network-Unlocked phones direct from Samsung receive updates directly from Samsung – but carrier-locked variants receive updates directly from carriers.

Glad to report you that my S23 just got updated to OneUI 6. Right while reading you comment a few minutes ago, I went to again to see if there’s an update and voila! there was. And it was the big fat OneUI 6. My phone is now running one Android 14 with OneUI 6. So I guess, you don’t need to through the SIM installation process that you suggested.
