I’m considering upgrading to the OLED, and figured it might be worth gifting my existing steamdeck to family - does anyone know of a refurbing service somewhere in the UK?

I’m happy to package it up and send it but basically want it as good as new if I’m going to gift it to someone.

It’s in good condition, just needs a new screen protector and some cleaning, but wouldn’t say no to it be opened and de-dusted.

You can always refurb it like dkoldies:

Grab a tissue and wipe it down, put it in bubble wrap and done.

Unless you are a smoker or used the deck in a concrete factory, the innards should be reasonably clean.

Software wise you can do a factory reset to clear all user data and the logged in account from it.

A microfiber cloth and a solution of 70% isopropyl alcohol and 30% distilled water will make the abs shell squeaky clean.

Never spray on the deck, always on the cloth. It should be barely moist.

A clean toothbrush and a toothpick used gently can make all the junction lines and crevices squeaky clean.

If the person who will receive it likes to care their electronics, you can just slap a good screen protector in the box and leave them choose if they want it, and if they want to apply it.

That’s the closest to a first unboxing it can get :)

How dirty is it currently that you’d need a refurbishing service? I sold my LCD version and just used a microfiber towel and it looked brand new.
