I really, really, REALLY want to use this case with modern components. I was told the case is completely unworkable and trash, however I really want to have a sleeper build with this case. (attached images are from the seller). Is there any possible method I could figure out a way to make sure I can get good thermal management? I also noted that there’s some PCI exhaust fans, would that help perhaps? I really hope there’s something I can do to make this case work.
It’s a lost cause, ain’t it?
I really dont see any issues with it, you can get allright airflow from that one front intake and you have a exhaust for the cpu cooler, you have a side intake for gpu etc…
Your thermals wont be amazing but nothing to worry about either.
EDIT: also i wouldnt use those pcie exhausts they are practically useless and introduce noise for no benefit
That doesn’t look that bad compared to other “old” cases. My biggest concern is the drive cage right behind the front intake. That seems like it would block a lot of airflow. Unless you plan on having a bunch of 3.5" drives, I would remove that giving you direct airflow from that big intake fan to your GPU and CPU. With that thing, I would think you’d likely be looking at a positive pressure setup so adding crappy PCI slot fans would do little. Just put in some vented PCI brackets or leave them open if you don’t care how that looks and the air will find it’s way out. Especially if you install a side case fan as well adding to the intake. Also assuming you aren’t installing any 5.25" drives, you could mount an additional 120mm fan (or two?) in the drive bays for even more airflow into the case.
Well it would have been a nice build but sadly the buyer backed out. It’s not to be. Ngl, feeling quashed.
That drive cage is a huge restriction for the intake fan. Other than that, it’s not too terrible. I’d cut out the venting at the rear, and put the biggest fan you can fit there for exhaust (move the second CPU fan to the front for clearance).
