The question pretty much sums it up.

Basically, the screen of my S8 went dead a few days ago. There has been a black spot on my screen for a longer time now but it never posed any problems to the rest of the screen before - until the screen stopped working completely. If I turn it on now, it’s just green-ish and brightens up until the entire screen is white.

Due to the fact that the phone is quite old anyways, I ordered a S20FE now. It will arrive in a few days. Now, my problem is that I still have some data on my S8 which I was not able to pull from it using samsung cloud. That includes my secret folder, whatsapp chats and some contacts.

I heard some people mention something called a “multiport adapter”, basically a USB-C to HDMI, USB-A and USB-C 1-3 adapter which would enable me to connect my S8 to a monitor and mouse to that I can control it without the screen.

I found a multiport adapter from Samsung, but it costs 70euros which I think is quite a lot. But I also saw similar adapters from other brands for around 15euros. I’m now thinking about ordering such an adapter so I can go through my S8 one last time and save all my data.

Oh one more thing: I tried connecting it to my computer already, weirdly enough, the SD-card and internal storage don’t show up anymore, even though that was always the case before.

I also have USB-debugging enabled in the dev options (as far as I remember atleast).

So yeah, just wanted to get your guys opinion on this before I order such an adapter.
