I’ve never managed to have one successfully connect to any car I’ve owned.
Is this by design? Is there a different process to follow?

You obviously won’t have CarPlay but some older car stereos with older versions of Bluetooth can connect similar to wireless headphones and quasi airplay
I make calls and stream music to my 3rd gen Tacoma stereo.
