It’s been since 2014 since I built my last computer. At the time I was really into small form factors and mini-itx machines. My current machine has a i7-4790K and GTX-980 on a Asus Z97I-PLUS motherboard with 16 GB of ram. I am getting decent performance playing MMO’s such as World of Warcraft and The Old Republic. I primarily play these types of games on High or Ultra but last few years I have noticed my system struggling to keep up.
I would like to build a new system based around the NZXT aesthetic prioritizing a clean sleek appearance and excellent performance to hopefully get me another 9.5 years of gaming.

I’d recommend getting a K series CPU rather than the KF, the little extra money is worth it for the iGPU. You get the QuickSync encoder / decoder and the computer can be used without a GPU if the GPU fails or you repurpose the CPU in the future for home server or something.

Go with a K vs a KF. Its worth having a back up GPU with the CPU’s iGPU. 4070TI will last you a long time on the current MMOs you play and any new ones you try.
GPU of only 12gb will not support resolutions above 1440p, so that won’t get you 10 years well.
With 14 series supporting APO and previous version not, you’d be better off with a 14 i5 even over 13700k. Better yet 14700k or better.
PSU is too weak and not a good deal; 1000w $119, or 1200w $149
EK cr360 is the best performing 360mm AIO out there and almost half the price of NZXT whatever that is

I never understood this, I use my 3070 with even less VRAM, at 4k resolution in every game I come across. The most I’ve ever had to do was decrease resolution scale to 1440p. High settings, 60fps.
I can give a huge list of games I play in this setup, but they’re not indie games or anything. I’m talking triple A titles. Obviously I’m not running any of these on a high refresh rate monitor, but 60 fps is completely playable, and if I wanted to I can switch to 1440p low or medium for the 40 extra fps.
PSUs are 165 and 200 respectively, as expected for a 1000w and a 1200w PSU, where did you get that it was 119 and 149?

You want the RBG stuff so my point may fall on deaf ears: I would cut the cooler costs substantially and get a 4080. The 4080 SUPER is supposedly coming out in a few months but that is a long while away possibly if you need it now.
If all you play are MMOs, the 4070ti should be good though. I think your current rig is actually officially support on WoW to this day, even if on the slower end
You should really consider the 7800x3d instead of intel if you play WoW.
I would personally ditch the overpriced CPU cooler and get the 14700k with the money that you saved
holy crap almost $300 for 360mm AIO? thats madness, almost as much as an entire cpu. Just get lian li galahad II 360 for ~140$ which is actually better cooler and MUCH cheaper
Get the 13700K version. Personally, i like having igpu because i can take my time to repaste & clean my gpu carefully. Then there is still a running pc for my daily tasks. Or i need a file quickly out of my pc then there is no rush…
750watt psu is enough for this build, but if you plan to use it for the next 10 years, you might consider getting a 900~1000watt psu. This will ensure your next gpu upgrade & beside that, a powerful psu will degrade less in 10 years for your build.
If you are familiar with undervolting & you dont want to push your cpu to the sun temperature, Just get a dual tower quality air cooler or cheaper aio with cool rgb.
You can save your money on cpu cooler & get a 4080 instead, you might need a few more bucks for that one. 4070ti’s 12gb vram will be bottleneck for future games

Yeah thats true, they have so little price difference right now, its better to get 14700k. i just thought op might be from a region like mine, which still intel 14th gen cpu costs 50% more than a 13th gen.
Looks good. I mean it really bugs me that 4070 ti only has 12gb of vram but I suppose it wont be a problem… yet anyway. Also you really don’t have to pay so much for a cooler if you don’t want. The liquid freezer II 240 would be enough and its under $100, or even an air cooler. Perhaps you could put it into a gpu with more vram…?
looks great-people are going to have their opinions and nitpicks but it looks excellent. I have 4070ti and 13600kf and play in 1440p and smoke every game with no issues. My only nitpick would be going with 14700kf and something like the DeepCool lt720 because its still a 360mm aio and its less expensive
Why go 14th generation? The 14700kf is only $50 more.
I upgraded yesterday from an Ivy Bridge i5-3570 to an intel i5-14600k on an Asus Z790 prime motherboard. The difference is night and day. Running the cpu stock with no overclocks nor undervots. Pretty happy with it so far
Does anyone have experience with the N7 motherboard? Is it worth spending more for Asus Strix?
I recommend getting the 4TB 990 Pro. The rando. speeds are significantly better somehow than the 2TB and you’ll absolutely need the extra storage in the next 9.5 years.
Looks good. Only thing id change is the cooler. A decent air cooler can be had for a fraction of that and you could use that money to upgrade to 4080 maybe?
