B760M Gaming X AX DDR4 and 13600K

Hi everyone,

I’m not sure where to find further information as I can’t seem to locate anything that describes my problem. I also posted this in r/gigabytegaming: https://www.reddit.com/r/gigabytegaming/comments/1801dmz/b760m_gaming_x_ax_ddr4_and_13600k/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

The situation:

I built a gaming PC earlier this year with the following components:

Intel i5 13600K

Arctic Freezer 240mm AIO

Gigabyte B760M Gaming X AX DDR4 (latest BIOS F16b, but also tested with original Firmware)

Palit GameRock Geforce RTX 4070 TI 12GB

Kingston Fury Beast DDR4-3600 CL18 2x16GB

Corsair 4000D with 4 additional Arctic 12 Fans

OS: Windows 11 23H2 latest updates

I can run Cinebench r23 for over 30 minutes without the CPU exceeding 90°C, and the VRM temperature never goes above 55°C.

Regarding BIOS settings:

I’ve experimented with different settings like “Spec Enhance,” “Max Turbo,” enabling adaptive Vcore, manually setting power limits to 4095W, but nothing has changed the results. When running Cinebench r23, the maximum power consumption I can get the CPU to reach is 176 watts. The resulting Cinebench score is around 22800 points, whereas I would expect an unrestricted 13600K to reach 24000 points.

Is my motherboard throttling my CPU? Am I missing any crucial settings in my BIOS? Actually, I’m planning to build another PC with the exact same board and a 14600K because, overall, I’m very satisfied with the build and its general gaming performance. It’s just bothering me that there seems to be something not quite right.

Cheers
