I’m very torn and don’t have a lot of money to spend. It would be my first Apple Watch and I plan on using it primarily at work so I don’t have to worry about my phone being out on the floor.

Been wearing a SE1 for half a year now, 82% battery health. In a week, I run 10-15miles, gym about twice and do some functional trainings/HIIT. I also wear it to bed to track my sleep.

Everything tracks fine, i honestly don’t feel like I am losing out to the latest series or Ultra based on my weekly activities above.

Oh and it was a used one, 100 bucks. Good thing i don’t stress about protecting my $800 ultra, very comfortable wearing it daily like it does not even exist on my wrist.

Get the 9 with the new cpu for longevity or wait for the redesign of the 10.

It depends on what you want. If you don’t mind the features that are missing on the SE like Always On Display, ECG, etc then SE is for you. As for me, I own an SE but I wish I have the mainstream series like 8 or 9. I wasn’t aware of the missing features when I got it.

If you can find a new S7 (doubtful by now but might get lucky) or an S8 on clearance (can be found with hunting for ~$300 USD), you’ll get an AOD, some bells and whistles like O2 and ECG (not a requirement unless you have particular medical reasons), and fast charging. For a watch you’ll be recharging daily, fast charging does matter.

The SE2 is a very good watch, and if the others on sale are a stretch you’ll still be getting a very capable watch. Just please be sure on any purchase you make to get AppleCare, even if you pay monthly for several dollars a month. If you ever bust your watch you’ll be incredibly happy you have it. It also extends the basic warranty, for any hardware failures after that first year of the basic warranty. And if you plan to go swimming, water damage is excluded, but is considered accidental damage under AppleCare.

I’ve bought the 2nd gen SE, because never owned an AW. 0 complains, perfect watch. Haters will require more screen, battery, edgy features. Never required those. Buy and be happy, OP.

Same here, got the SE 2 in September. I didn’t need the ECG, Body Temp, Fast Charge, AOD (I guess it could be nice on nights out or in the car), or the Flick Type. In fact, the omission of flick type made me more comfortable with dictation. Also a battery replacement is basically a full device replacement, so the prices to “refresh” for a new battery, screen, & case is a nice offer imo.

If cost is a concern, but you want any of the more modern features since watchSE(1), keep an eye on Woot and eBay for refurbished or second hand! Other sites also offer refurbished options, but those are the two I tend to find the cheapest options.

2d gen SE is very solid and does most of what series 9 does. I have both. If you can afford 9 it’s a great watch, but if it’s out of your budget the SE is great too. I found a used SE 2 in great condition (not cellular) for $150 on eBay.

I have the second generation SE. No regrets. I was comparing with series 8 at the time, and it didn’t seem like the extra bells and whistles made a difference to me.

The se2 is great option. I had the awu because I was trying to go all out. But found that wife’s aw8 and daughters se2 were more than enough. So I which to save money with se2 and it last for my use case 24hrs. I never have battery anxiety because I charge when I shower at night. And sometimes I charge while sleeping or getting ready for work, it always ends back at 100.
