I have 10 CM sickleflow aRGB fans and I would like to control each fan colors and each fan individual leds. What would be my options? I chose the fans because of the low price and the fact that I wouldn’t be locked into Corsair’s iCue ecosystem or something like that. I’m not afraid if I have to build a controller from arduino if that’s possible.

Yeah. Just connect the 5v to both the mcu and the fans. I can show a sample setup when I’m home in about 30-45 minutes

I just wanted to say this is an interesting thread. I build a lot of PCs, and often mod the RGB devices to consolidate control. But I generally just tie them to Corsair controllers and use iCUE (I’ve always had good luck with the software). But you guys have some great suggestions for taking it to the next level.

I’ve got a background in both light tech, as in stage/club lighting, and smart home stuff. So for me it was a bit of a given that I’d end up doing something like this. Although I have to say that the controller for my Lian-Li fans didn’t disappoint. And what I’ve seen from corsair isn’t bad either. It’s just that that way you’re more locked in to a specific brand, or end up with multiple rgb software suites (or openrgb for all but one component).

Have been thinking of making a video about how to set something like this up. It’s not hard to do. It can be done without soldering, premade components exist, but might be a bit to niche for most to come across. (WLED is used a lot for holiday lighting, those roofline lighting and such)
