So I’d look legion first, since the ROG has an SD melting issue that’s likely impossible to fix sans a design revision.
Steam OS is lighter, but it’s also using proton to play games, so not every game will work 100% of the time, launchers make things a mess, and games from other stores are a crapshoot. Longevity wise hard to say, but a modern windows box will play basically any old PC game ever with the right options, so I wouldn’t worry about Windows suddenly being outdated.
It’s more that Steam is a gaming focused OS, with some unique features, but for shear compatibility (or for anyone that wants to play something like Destiny) a Windows device has some obvious pluses.
