I’m considering picking up a docking station while they’re on sale for Black Friday, but I’m finding very little on VRR / Freesync support on any docks other than the official one. I like pretty much everything about the Jsaux docks more — looks sturdier, less likely for the Deck to get jostled out, and half the cost — but I’m getting hung up on the lack of solid VRR info, post-3.5.5 update.

From what I’ve found when I got my dock only the official dock supports VRR on HDMI, something to do with display port over USB-C converting to HDMI, I have the Jsaux 12 RGB dock and threw HDMI no VRR but if I hook it to a monitor with Display Port VRR does work. So if you’re hooking it to a TV then your only option is the official dock for VRR.
