My deck was wet. I don’t know how mamuch liquid entered, but there were drops of liquid on the buttons. I figure some liquid seeped into the deck.

Before I figured out my deck was wet, I had just turned it on to resume playing after having put my kid to sleep. The deck started to make it’s own input and ignore my manual inputs. Pretty spooky. I turned everything off and am hoping for the best.

Wheb can I safely turn it on again?

What is your experience from similar situations?

Is my deck a goner?

I swear I am not trying to get insurance money for OLED, I just want to play my deck again, but it might ultimately be my route depending on what you guys tell me.

If you’re comfortable with such a thing, open the Deck and look for liquid residue. Take out the button assembly and clean it with IPA or demineralized water. Clean anything else you find. Let it dry thoroughly, reassemble and boot the Deck back up.

When I think where should I put my cabbage to ferment. Oh I know that shelf above where I keep my steam deck just pops into my mind.

I laugh at posts/situations like this and wonder how can this happen to people but last night I left a large Ziplock bag with ice packs in it on my desk to hold a bottle with milk for my toddler and I guess when I grabbed it in the night the bag fell sideways and a bunch of extra ice melted and dripped into my computer chair in a spot about an inch away from where my Deck was sitting… Close call… Good luck with your situation!

I don’t even sneeze around my deck, let alone leave a jar of fermented vegetables near it.
