I just got my OLED deck. We all have seen the same posts about the more important stuff like the screen, battery life, etc. But I thought I’d just give some thoughts on some smaller details that people might not be as aware of:

- It’s lighter by 30g. This may not seem like much, but I’ve gotten used to the OG deck’s weight and after picking that up and switching to the OLED immediately after, it “felt” much lighter than 30g. Maybe it’s the way the weight is distributed, but it was just very noticeable for me.

- The new torque screws on the back are awesome. They are all the same size, and I didn’t have any issues with them stripping. I know a lot of people struggled with that issue. It made the SSD swap from my old one to the new one a breeze.

- The whole device just “feels” more premium. They are subtle things, but smaller bezels and the grippier thumb sticks, for example, just make the experience so much more enjoyable from a tactile perspective

Are there any other minor little details like this you’ve noticed that are just the icing on the cake for you? I’d love to hear them!

Of course as an aside, there’s nothing wrong with the OG deck. I’m not saying the reasons I listed are a dealbreaker or anything, but they are nice little improvements that show valve really cares about small details.

could it be wear and tear on the older lcd deck that gives the impression the new device is more “solid” and “tighter” analog sticks, just saying. I mean a 1 year old heavily used og deck surely won’t feel as premium as a brand new device. but I’m very happy Valve made all the subtle important to the oled model.
