I have a rog strix which is a couple years old. it runs perfectly, but the left fan started making loud noises, like a sort of buzzing or hissing sound. I opened up the bottom of the laptop, unplugged, unscrewed and removed the left fan. I took apart the fan itself and cleaned the dust from it. there is nothing stuck in the blades so I assume it’s a problem I can’t fix on my own, so I ordered a replacement.

Anyway, it’s going to take about a month to ship from Germany. I’m certain the answer is yes, but is it a terrible idea to just run the pc with one fan? will it distribute the cooling throughout the cpu or will half of it heat up? Unfortunately I’m pretty sure that the graphics card is on the left side too.

not recommended, but you risk a lot of future chronic damage.

the heat will build up on one side of the heatsink, and eventually fry one side of the board.

if you absolutely need to run it -
put it on max fan speed and place a cooling pad beneath laptop
