So, I don’t understand the difference between the drive that I have over 500 GB and the disk usage is at 100% when I’m browsing the internet using multiple tabs.

So, if I’m going to get new laptop should I care about the storage that I don’t really use? Is it the same as disk usage or they are different?

I’m going to get new laptop and I don’t want to see 100% disk usage as it slows the performance. What laptop specifications should I look for to avoid 100% disk usage?

Thank you so much.

So your disk usage is how hard the drive needs to work (speed) and storage capacity is the space it has (500gb)

If you are confident enough, you can open the laptop up, and replace the hard drive with a solid state drive. You would want a 2.5" sata size. You will just want to make sure any important stuff is backed up, and you will need to reinstall windows. This might actually be beneficial to get rid of bloat that manufacturers install on those machines as well. It would also be a good time to clean dus from the fan/heat sink, and add more ram(short term memory for more multitasking)if necessary. Most people want 16gb in the modern day. You will have to look at your system information to figure out the kind and amount. The ram will be the SODIMM form factor.

I have never done such a thing before. Actually my current laptop is old enough to retire.
