I got mine a while back for $180 using gift cards and coupons.

Had a gift card I couldn’t use. Amazon gave me extra money if I bought gift cards online.
So I bought a few gift cards up to the amount and it gave me a bunch of money, and boom. $180 5800x3d.
Edit: and it was on sale for $280
I can’t find any deals here in Aus, still sells for $549 AUD :( :(
amazon ships from america for free 520 takes like 2 weeks, but probs better to pay an extra 20 bucks to get now
I know, I even have prime so should be easy and painless. I may do it if the price goes down, I see the 5800x3d at $526 which is still above my budget.

Why not go AM5? You can buy 7800x3d + tomahawk b650 for $820 in Australia atm(sale). Add some ram for 150 and you’ll be good. Yes it’ll cost double but you’d be buying into a platform that’ll be supported for another 2 generations.

It did not come down.on the Friday. If I am lucky Monday for cyber sales. But crazy it went on sale for $370 the week before black Friday. Seems almost to be done on purpose.
