Buy the controller you like, seriously. I can’t tell what you prefer.

    Personally I use 8bitdo for 3 reasons:

    • 2.4ghz wireless (Bluetooth SUCKS),
    • I need rear programmable buttons
    • I can’t stand having the left joystick on the bottom

My experiences using the Xbox controller with the Steam Deck have been pretty bad, Dualsense has been good though there were some issues earlier this year with rumble causing disconnects iirc. Thinking of picking up an 8bitdo myself but right now my go to is the Switch Pro controller.

As a guy that doesn’t have a windows device besides a mac with bootcamp partition, I would avoid Xbox. I got one to try it out but it just annoyed me. Updated it when I got it, couple weeks later another update, then another update. Also the ergonomics aren’t my favorite. Too clicky and noisy.

8bitdo is really good after having bad experience with their products. It’s built very well and is feature heavy, but you can’t use everything. Place it second but I use it the most since swapping the ABXY buttons.

Dualsense is my top one at the moment. Feature heavy, great ergonomics, has functional gyro, no latency issues. Only con is the battery life is pretty meh. Also I prefer ABXY over the PlayStation layout
