Can somebody help me? My laptop is insanely slow, and it’s frustrating because it takes about 2 minutes to start up. Despite that, the login screen where I put my PIN gets bugged, so I can only see my lockscreen wallpaper. It takes about 3 more minutes to get the prompt to put in the PIN. Then, to open my browser, it takes like 3 more minutes. And when it finally opens, I click to navigate, and it gets laggy, with the window appearing like it’s not responding. When I click the Windows logo to search for an app, it takes like 1 minute to open. I’m mad at this. I have Windows 11 updated, I have about 600 GB of free disk space, I’ve disabled all Windows animations, and I’ve disabled all non-essential apps from opening at startup. I’ve already reinstalled Windows, and this worked for like a month.

I have a Lenovo laptop with these specs:

  • Intel i5-1035G4 CPU @ 1.10GHz 1.50 GHz
  • 8 GB of RAM
  • 1 TB of HDD

I’m looking to change my HDD to an SSD, but I don’t know if that is going to solve all this. I’m thinking about adding an M.2 SSD to get all my files and Windows there, and keeping the HDD to save some pics and videos only.

Any suggestions?

I was thinking about getting a 1 TB M.2 so I could get 2TB total. Are there any problems putting together the HDD with the M.2?

Yes, the laptop supports M.2 I’ve already checked the spec sheet and did the crucial system scan.

No, there is no problem. I thought the laptop wouldn’t support M.2 because it is a lower-end old model, but if it has M.2, then you should be good to go.
