So I bought a Samsung A14 a while back cause I lost my old phone and I saw it didn’t came with the brick to charge, kinda odd to me. Then I realized it had a TYPE C ON BOTH SIDES of the cable. Why do they even call this cable a USB??

So I said “I’ll just use my own type C cable that I’ve been using” that actually has a USB side so I don’t have to buy yet another article to charge my phone… well no.
The phone tells me I can’t use another cable cause it is not “verified or official” from samsung and if I insisted it will charge on “slow mode” 20hrs to fully charge. This gave me a lot of problems every time I had to charge cause I had to put the cable on a specific way for it to charge normally.

I tried to look up why doesn’t it come with a charging brick, what I found? They didn’t wanted to PRESSURE the consumer into buying a new phone for the charger(?? makes no sense) and to “reduce the e-waste and environmental impact” I mean I could just use my cable and the brick that I already own.
So I have this cable and brick now that I can’t use and will have to dispose of cause they gave me another one that I can’t use unless I buy a specific Type c charging brick… great. why not just, idk
LET US USE A NORMAL USB CABLE??? instead of locking the phone charging cause is not specifically the one you gave in the box.

Could it be that the cable is damaged (or the brick) and that’s why it’s charging so slow and telling you to use another cable for it? I know that happened to me before, I was using a really slow brick and it gave me a really long time too

My new a54 is like that too. My charger worked great with my previous phone. Now it says over 8 hours to fully charge from around 20%. I plugged it into my bf’s samsung charger and it says a little over 1 hour. Ridiculous. So now I guess I have to throw away the old charger and my car charger and buy samsung ones instead. I have no other electronics to use them for so they’re pointless now.

Once Apple decided not to include charging bricks it was a foregone conclusion that other manufacturers would follow.

You don’t have to buy Samsung ones. Any charger works, but it can’t charge faster your phone faster than the charging brick/cable combination is rated for.

Chances are someone’s old phone has gotten to the point of limited battery capacity and then they upgrade to a new phone with a larger and fresh battery and it is going to take much longer to charge even with the old charging brick.

Just buy an Anker charger with a few ports that are rated at different watt charging speeds. And a good cable rated for 5W or better.

Since everyone is standardising on USB-C after the EU insisted, both will serve you well for many years.

I got a charger in the box (and a case) with my M54 but they sent a 15W USB-A charger with a USB-A cable. It was useless to me since it was taking 3 to 4 hours to charge the phone (due to heat management) and I already had the same charge from my previous phone.

I tried using other 33W chargers from Motorola and Xiaomi (both USB-A) but they would never go above 12W. The cable didn’t matter.

I had to buy the original 25W charger, and a USB-C cable, form Samsung to enable the super fast charging. The charging experience was so bad that I kept using my old phone for almost a entire month until I received this charger and got the promised charging speed.
