I want to know how this is practical? You dump all your ammo in seconds and then how do you reload? You’d have to land, then take off your arm jets, put the keys back on, and then you take off again. It’s cool I’ll give it that but you’d have a better product with a small caliber belt fed gun.
So many didn’t read the article. Its for ship boarding. You land and transition to your carried rifle and start clearing the ship in the traditional manner.
The tracked auto pistol is for the brief period where your coming in to land and your hands are occupied with the jet system. (Should be noted the pistol system in the linked video is a very early and very crude prototype)

Belt fed makes so much more sense. I feel like this is more of a proof of concept thing than an end product.
