Hello! I’m trying to play Sea of Thieves on my Steamdeck. The title window gets stuck on “signing in.” On PC- an Xbox account login window pops up at this time so that you can log in and play- but this window doesn’t actually appear. If I look at the “switch windows” area it does show both “Sea of Thieves” and “Xbox Live Sign In” but the Xbox live sign in doesn’t appear.

I did try switching to desktop mode and loading it up- the Xbox login page DOES appear but it won’t let me bring up the virtual keyboard to actually type anything. I’ll try connecting a Bluetooth keyboard later but I’m hoping to get this working the normal way.

Any idea how to get around this?

For anybody experiencing this problem, this was the solution that worked for me. It’s a real pain in the ass and took several attempts, but it did end up working. I will provide the steps I took in the order I remember them.

Step 1: Open the game in gaming mode on the deck.

Step 2: Hit start game in the opening menu, which should take you into the log in screen for the xbox/microsoft bullshit.

Step 3: Be confronted with a black screen that appears useless.

Step 4: Hit the “Steam” button plus the “X” button to bring up the on screen keyboard.

Step 5: This is where it gets a little fucky. Attempt to type out your microsoft e-mail and pull the right trigger or tap the enter key on the keyboard to submit.

Step 6: If the keyboard didn’t pop back up after submitting the e-mail, then use the steam+x keys to open it again. Type your password and hit trigger/enter again to submit the password.

Step 7: If you are still on the black screen at this point (I was), then just type your e-mail in again and submit one more time.

Step 8: Play game! (If the previous steps didnt work on the first try then keep trying while also making small changes to the process along the way. I found that hitting the enter button when first opening the keyboard may have done something.)

    Good luck fellow Deck Pirates!
