I’ve recently installed the i9 14900k paired with a 4090, 32GB ram and 360mm AIO. The idle temps on the 14900k can be anywhere from 35-45 c and when playing games such as warzone it can peak at 70 c is this normal?I used to have the i7 12700k and it wouldn’t go past 40/45c when playing warzone.

Is there anything I can do to make this better or is it completely normal and good? Should I be editing any BIOS settings its all default (apart from XMP for the ram)

    14900k - MSI z790 - Artic Freezer 420

This had me worried on so many levels.

1st - MSI mobo. Ive always prefered ASUS, i know how to use them, i like the AI suite… so not that anything is wrong with it, it was just hard for me to figure out.

2nd Artic Freezer. What a buzz word right now. A lot of hate and a lot of praise. No software, not thrilled by it… but going to still give it a shot.

First boot up while updating windows - hit 97c.
    was worried.

Tweak bios to CPU Lite Mode 3 and see what ill call an average of 20c lower temps.
    Looking good.

Start downloading and installing Star Citizen. Hits 98.
    Very worried again.
Boot game, crashes on main menu from hitting 100c.

Proceed to try all kinds of crap, lowering voltage - blue screen.
Finally… Factory reset, put it back on CPU LITE MODE 3 -
TURN OFF INTEL BOOST AND INTEL BOOST MAX 3.0 - Fixed.

Launched star citizen, never went over 55c.
