I’ve never really been able to fully enjoy my Steam Deck because sticks are not good for FPS controls (my favorite gaming genre) and the trackpads are even worse due to the uneven edge spin issue. Trackball mode has never been remotely accurate for me so I just tend to avoid playing on my deck unless I have it hooked to a TV with a mouse or a Steam Controller.

Can anyone who has the OLED version confirm whether or not the issue has been fixed on the new Steam Deck? If so, it’s an insta-buy for me but it’s too expenseive to gamble. Thanks!

I’m guessing you prefer Trackpad without Gyro? Because if you use Gyro for fine aim, you can just get away with cranking up the horizontal sensitivity (low vertical scale), like I describe here:

Maybe you could also try mode shift to D-pad mode on trackpad click, where Left and Right are mapped to “move X by amount”.

I use gyro as well. Using edge spin and gyro on steam controller, I’m just as accurate as mouse/KB.
