Is something new releasing? Why is it down?

I know it’s tradition and all, but why exactly does the store need to “go down” at all?

Just thinking about Amazon, Google, Microsoft, etc.

I can’t remember the last time these other stores had to “go down” in order to stock a new product, or even do an entire front page refresh. It just sort of… happens.

Speaking as a developer, I can think of a few reasons why it would need to go down. But these reasons are merely technical and speak to the developer capability and design of the system. Whomever runs their store is simply not doing things right.

My non dev take is it’s a marketing tactic. Store goes “down” and posts like this one go up. Drives traffic and generates buzz

I just used the education pricing to save the same money and not get a gift card.

what a joke these black friday sales are. Promo only applies if you buy an old iphone or an inferior mac. This is called a getting rid of old inventory sale.

Welcome to the tutti-fruitti, phoney-baloney, plastic banana, good time, rock-n-roll Apple PR hype. They do this every year to create astroturf excitement. It’s like they don’t believe in their own products and have to gin-up interest with these little games. Meanwhile, every other major retailer manages to update their site without taking it offline.

They just added their Black Friday “deals” (nothing is actually cheaper, but you get a gift card to the apple store)

The deals are actually cheaper somewhere else and have a better return policy than Apple official

    Hello,

    1. If I order an Ipad online (in store pickup in the US if it matters), do I receive the gift card right away? In that case I’ll use the gift card towards an Apple Pencil.
    2. Or would I receive the gift card when I actually pick up the Ipad, if so would I receive it via email?

I ordered a MacBook Air and received the email after it was sent for delivery. I’m assuming because it’s in stock in store you’d probably get it right away.

Does anyone know if the Apple gift card offer applies to refurbished products sold through the Apple store website?

The store is up in India, where we have no Black Friday. So I assume it’s down for a Black Friday sale update in the US.
