Basically, due to a rough state of cold war between the US and China and GPUs being essential to modern high-power computing for things such as AI. It has nothing to do with their use for video games.
Other way around. The US has banned shipments to China containing AI technology.

The PCBs are assembled there, but the actual GPUs (chips on the PCB) are made in Taiwan.
So now that they can’t import them, where are they assembling the PCBs?
