I saw this notification on my phone. I never even saw the emergency sos screen pop up, I must’ve been handling my phone lazily. I can’t tell if this notification means they contacted authorities or i just initiated the sos screen? No calls in my calling history. Scared!

Yes. If it was cancelled before it went through, you wouldn’t have gotten this notification.
So it called or did it just notify authorities? I have nothing In my call logs. Not sure it would show up anyways.

On 17.1 at least I have held the buttons, let the timer commence, and then cancelled. I still got the notification.
No. If you cancel it before the countdown you get that notification
Side and volume buttons call 911? This combo on android takes a screen shot. I’m about to get my first iPhone. Sorry in advance cops.
Lock button and volume up is screenshot, lock button and volume down held for a couple of seconds is power off or choose to call sos, it’s only if you continue to hold those buttons that it makes the call on its own. I’d struggle to do it by accident personally but that’s just me.
If it accidentally calls them don’t hang up just immediately tell them it was an accidental call so they don’t have to waste police resources sending someone out to a hangup emergency call.
