  • It’s not new. I remember when the G5 iMac came out they had numerous problems with burned out midplanes. What I recall was that the Mac when sleeping would turn off the fan and it somehow literally burned out some capacitors and it was a replacement that cost almost as much as a new Mac if it happened outside of warranty or Apple Care. I didn’t own the particular machine, but I recall a relative had one that was always running in reduced mode as he didn’t want to have it burn up. I have not myself encountered any problems so far with poor quality control of my own Apple products though.

  • The remote control uses a lithium ion battery like the iPhone. However the battery in a new Apple TV remote control lasts around 3 months on a charge. So it would not hit the 500 or 1000 cycles for a very long time. Though the Apple TV 4 and 4K came with a glass remote control that could easily be broken if dropped on a hard floor. Though Apple does sell replacement remote controls if that happens and they can be controlled by your iPad, iPhone, or Apple Watch. The second and third generation Apple TV 4K come with an updated remote that is less fragile. I did about a year come across one reddit post about those wearing out fast, but haven’t seen something like it since and have used my second gen 4K since it came out and the remote control is still working like new.

No its a decent size. When I first got the 13 Pro Max after the XR it took some getting used to it, but the 15 Pro Max feels normal. I actually can understand why they are making the phones even bigger though they can’t that much bigger before they won’t fit in pants pockets though.
