Anyone struggling with connecting usb devices? Just got my new deck but it wont detect any usb storage devices or wired controllers etc, that all work fine with the wifes deck.

Made sure that everything is up to date and ive tried it on the different proton’s. It charges fine, so I cant imagine the usb-c port being defective. Also i was able to mount my SD card no problem, so it’s not like it won’t detect any storage, its just anything going into the usb-c.

I’ve already asked valve for help but was just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same and has any possible suggestions in the mean time! Thanks!

Man, I constantly watch this sub, and I’ve yet to see someone report that.

I hope Valve can help out (and not force an RMA on ya)

It’s been reported a few times. The issue seems to be that the USB-C port doesn’t provide power when acting as a host. Using a powered USB hub everything starts working correctly.

It’s likely a software issue in firmware and will be fixed.

I’m seeing this same issue. I was about to reset my entire deck.

Out of interest, if you reboot your deck with a device plugged in are you able to see the USB device?

I noticed, that my mouse works until I unplug it, same for a USB stick. I can use it just fine while it’s working too.

      I think I solved my issues…

I created a thumb drive with the recovery image using my PC. I rebooted the deck with the USB plugged in, I booted in to the recovery desktop and just reinstalled SteamDeck OS only (the one that attempts to keep your games installed). After it restarted it is now allowing me to plug and unplug USB devices ok. Tested with a thumb drive and a USB SSD.
