His pc has 100 gigabytes of ram, making it really ahead of its time. 100 gb of ram is expensive now, don’t even know what it would have cost in 1999, if it were even possible

lol for real, imagine it’s 1994 spending 2k on a brand new 486dx2. You’re pumped, Doom runs awesome. For a couple of years you can play most games, Warcraft 2, Descent.

2 years later Quake comes out and you try to run it but it’s unplayable… Diablo releases and isn’t playable either… alright time for an upgrade, $1000 later in 1996 you have your sick Pentium 133mhz machine. Quake and Diablo run so well, this is great!

For the next couple of years you can play most games, then 1998 the mother of all gaming years hits… half life, Jedi Knight, Homeworld, Quake 2… you’re barely in the minimum reqs category now, if you don’t have a voodoo 1, forget about it. Time for another upgrade!

Just the game releases that were released in that time period are pretty staggering and show how fast tech was moving.

Looking at Wolfenstien 3d and Half life and realizing there was only a 6 year difference is crazy, Whereas in our modern era GTA 4 -> 5 was a 5 year gap, same as Oblivion to Skyrim.

This has been my experience with PC gaming. I upgrade about every 5-7 years and it runs about 3-5 grand each upgrade. Been doing it since doom. It’s amazing how much cheaper computers are today than they were in the 90s.

I’d like to take this moment to point out that despite being “weird” Al, he has proven to be a lot less weird than most of the people he parodied….

This is hilarious, but has anyone actually been upset? Even the “loud” very minority of people trying to say a refresh wasn’t planned makes up maybe a dozen posts out of the tens of thousands across most platforms.

There’s definitely more people complaining about the people complaining, then actual people complaining.

Just folks who were worried it would somehow invalidate their deck. Little do they realize this is the 3rd version of the deck already. Ifixit did their teardown and showed the first refresh that replaced the og fan with the one in the oled some time ago.

I could see being upset if it were a major APU bump and they were going to stop certifying games as playable with the first deck, but that didn’t happen.
