Hello! I just spilled water on my laptop and Steam Deck (and everything on my desk lol) and it seeped through the trackpads and speakers. I’m avoiding turning it on so I don’t break it, and I don’t have the tools to open it up. What should I do next? I’ve done this before, however it was docked so it didn’t touch the Steam Deck, but it did shut down randomly after I did that, no problems after though. I think there might be some water in the SD card slot though, and it did splash on the screen. It is currently in sleep mode I believe. It was sparkling water, if it helps.

TL;DR spilled water on Deck, what should I do next

Great opportunity for learning to work on electronics. Buy a set of precision screwdrivers (~$10), and take the thing apart. A little bit of water in the speakers and track pads shouldn’t do anything, but it can corrode exposed contacts if left for too long.

Blow the wet parts with compressed air and a hot fan. Clean the boards with alcohol or a specialized anti corrosive PCB cleaner.
