    How do you check your screen vendor? The Hardware thing that tells you every part inside your LCD Deck doesn’t seem to return results on the OLED Deck.

      Hold the power button, switch to desktop mode.

      Open the terminal, type this:

      cat /sys/class/drm/card0-eDP-1/edid | hexdump -C

      (Linux commands are case sensitive)

      On the first line of the hex code returned, look on the right side for either ”04 30” or ”03 30”.

      03 = Samsung

      04 = BOE

      (01 and 02 are for LCD screens.)

        This isn’t some kind of “delete System32” prank you’re pulling on a first time Linux user, right?

        :)

        Ok, Looks like I got Samsung.

        If BOE is making all the screens for the LE version, and they are having unusually large amounts of dead pixels that really sucks. Valve probably expected them to be fine and since the LE is going to be much smaller total production, they just used a single supplier for that chain :/

        Feel bad for LE buyers who are arguably the most dedicated fans having he highest rate of defects.
