I bought a refurbished Steam Deck from gamestop about two months ago. Works like a dream shockingly. Except for one thing. I finally found out why it was refurbished. The battery needs to be replaced. Basically despite me charging the device to 100. The battery is completely inaccurate. Even going as far as shutting off on me just now claiming it is "out of battery " when I have 61% left. Or when I charge it to full I will play it for about 30 minutes before the battery claim it is low as zero percent and yet somehow it is still active as I am playing it.

My question is how can I fix this? Do I need to open the device and manually change the battery or is there someone more tech savvy I can speak to and replace the battery for me?

Check the battery life in desktop mode and see at what level it is.

If it’s low there you’ll probably need a replacement. You can change the battery but it’s one of the more harder things to fix on the Steam Deck.

If it’s high, try power cycling the deck a few times.

Don’t you have any warranty from Gamestop? If it’s refurbished the battery should be good.
