I would rather have 96GB RAM and 8TB storage options on the other one which only has 7840HS and no dGPU. Also 15" is max because I’m married to my Peak Design photo bag.

Don’t buy anything from Tuxedo, truly awful service. They screwed up the shipping causing huge additional and unnecessary import tax and then when there was a hardware failure under refused to help.

For reference, an Asus Windows laptop with somewhat similar base specs is $750 right now. Last gen 7735 and lower tier version of Navi 33, the 7600S.

Yeah it is, high quality but generic. There is nothing innovative about it and more to the point it’s not AMD. Neither is Samsung.

I mean, you need to set up a bit of things, but outside of game developers being fucking assholes and not allowing ACs on linux, linux has made very good progress in just a few years. I find myself barely booting to windows 10 right now.

If you can’t figure out how to install steam and do some clicks… Linux gaming is very easy nowadays.

Thing is that not everyone plays every game on steam, and even some on steam require specific arguments that the average user won’t be bothered to search, even if it’s quick.

Most of the stuff works out of box, nowadays. The average user would never use linux anyway and if someone has taken the effort to install an alternative operating system, I guess that they can at least google.

Well, most is a stretch. Don’t get me wrong I myself don’t have many games which I can’t play on arch, but there is a good chunk out there, especially with AC that cannot be played on linux yet.

All this to say that in the future linux will probably be able to reach the level of windows (when it comes to gaming), but not right now. It doesn’t help that I prefer spending 1 hour trying to find out how to boot some bronze rated game on proton instead of opening windows because I fucking hate it.

Tom’s Hardware stealing content and getting shit wrong.

What may be the world’s first Linux laptop (at least in a very long time) has arrived on the market as Tuxedo Computers’ Sirius 16 Gen 1

That’s unfortunate. At least Phoronix is cited in the first sentence.

Why 90% of gaming laptops come with overkill cpus and low to midrange gpus.

Tell AMD to release sensible midrange mobile GPUs… For me a 7600M is enough, but if I would have the option to buy a 7700M which rivals the 4070 mobile for less money, I would buy it. I just can’t. Because there is no 7700M…
