There is other launchers if it does not function anymore. You can download Lawnchair 2 on the Play Store; it’s as open source a QuickStep, or even more; so zero spyware. Also, it’s designed to be resource efficient. And bonus, it’s customizable as heck. Hoping this suggestion/workaround helps!
