Hello Reddit :) I’m new user here after buying the amazing SteamDeck OLED 512 GB.
After reading and immersing myself in the world of Steamdeck, I am a bit overwhelmed with the amount of options available. Up until now I was a student playing my Steam library with my victus laptop: AMD Ryzen 5 5600H RTX 3050 laptop version 16Gb RAM
Now, after getting a job and saving for a couple of years, and after a few months of moving I have decided to upgrade a bit. My first question would be:
- How powerful is Steamdeck compared to the laptop?
I have also bought my first TV, a lg55" led. This is a side question and this is not the correct place but, 2) do I need a chromecast? A lot of people love it. Anyways I ordered on Amazon a deck to be able to connect the SteamDeck to the TV and at the same time a 512Gb SD, in case I need to install Windows. On the laptop I was using a wireless Viper ultimate mouse and an epomaker keyboard also wireless. In addition I bought the Xbox series elite V2 core controller.
- can I play/use the steamdeck on the TV by connecting the wireless mouse and keyboard to the Steamdeck? The controller can also be connected? All via Bluetooth
I am imagining this in a scenario where I am on Windows and want to run some GamePass game via Steamdeck.
Looking at this scenario the laptop is a bit obsolete,4) is there anything I am leaving behind to take advantage of everything I have available? I have read things like Moonlight and sunshine to run the laptop on Steamdeck, is this correct? If so, 5) wouldn’t it be easier to use Moonlight and pc in stead of installomg Windows on the SD and run it internally? What is the difference between these two options?
Thank you for reading this far and I welcome all tips and tricks.
Laptop is much more powerful
