So, I decided to spring for Care+ when I bought my Z Flip 5. I’ve always been a Note user since Note 1, and in all the years I never broke anything, even after 100s of drops. But with the Flip, i decided to err on the side of caution, and sure enough, after several months, i dinged the screen and now have a black spot larger than the camera hole.

So, I filed a claim, only to find out asurion has one repair store in my area, 30 minutes away. I make an appointment, and when i get there I am told they don’t carry the Flip 5 screens and would need to order one. This would have nicer had they called and told me when I created the appointment, as the reason was right there.

So I wait a week and they finally got it in, but with work, I had to wait until this weekend. I made the appointment, and when I arrived, the guy went in back to grab the screen. He informs me that since my Flip is a Samsung exclusive color (blue), they can’t even get the correct screen and I would need to mail my phone in to Samsung for the repair. I would be okay with a chrome bezel with a grey back, but “that isn’t allowed,” as the replacement parts have to match exactly.

Like, wtf? I can’t be without my phone for more than a few days, let alone weeks. They really push the same day repair thing, which would be the csse, but to not allow your authorized repair partner access to all colors of parts? Ridiculous.

Yeah I’ve sen a couple of these posts over the last few months. The color affects the repair which is nuts. I guess getting the boring colors everyone has has its advantages. Also, those people are idiots for not communicating with you. I’d at least write them a negative review AFTER you get your phone back.

They wouldn’t do that for me when I tried with my fold.

Same deal have to send it in.

I looked but it’s only giving me the $29 option for a local repair or to send it in. I’ll try calling them tomorrow to see if there is any other option.

It’s way easier to replace if it’s through your carrier. I had to send my S23U in after I accidentally got a hairline crack in the screen. I filed my claim online through my carrier (T-Mobile), and got a brand new phone in my hands within 3 days.

Point taken, but it’s still asinine that their authorized repair company is unable to repair it solely because of the color. It’s not even in their system as an option.
