Currently I have an old i5 9600k with an MSI Z390 -A PRO and 2x8Gb Hyperx Fury 3200mhz DDR4 RAM.
Im planning to upgrade to an i5 14600k but stay on my ddr4 rams for a couple years.
What kjnd of motherboard should I buy to be able to run with my old ram kit? Is that possible?

From what I’ve read, the 14600k can go all the way up to 180W, so I’d get something more recent and with higher TDP

DDR5 are so cheap its not worth staying on ddr4
ddr5 price dropped significantly so you should really consider upgrading to ddr5 32gb. Any MSI Z series motherboard will be good 690 or 790 so check the market and choose the cheapest one with good reviews. Just make sure motherboard supports appreciate RAM -ddr4 or ddr5.
I wouldn’t suggest carrying that RAM forward, rather sell the mainboard/memory/cpu and cooler together and replace them outright as a bundle. I also think a 14600k is pointless given no significant improvements over the 13600k, no APO support… you are simply paying more for an arbitrary digit in the model number.
The 13600k is going to offer a good value for gaming and productivity workloads paired with a decent mainboard + PC6000 DDR5 RAM kit but you’re looking at close to $500 at current prices. Bundles are the way to go.
If you want a better long term upgrade path and live near a Micro Center the $400 7700x and $470 7800x3D bundles on the AMD side are hard to beat. The 13700k bundle is also good at $450 if you prefer Intel or want a bit more multicore juice for productivity tasks.
Don’t assume that there is a substantial price difference between the CPUs.

Get an open box ddr5 kit before sticking with ddr4. Ddr5 is so cheap now.
Go DDR5, it’ll be worth it for up to 15-30 fps in games. I recommend Cast latency over raw speed. Look up LTT DDR5 video on YouTube!
You can still get by just fine with DDR4 idk what people are freaking out about, plus DR5 boards are usually more expensive. But I get what they’re saying; if you’re buying a new motherboard might as well have it DDR5 compatible if you want to “future-proof” it. If you’re not strapped for cash I say go for that.
Definitely check out AMD, although I can’t recommend anything. If I was staying on Intel I might consider going down to 13th gen since they are almost equal performance with the new 14th gen and is way cheaper and uses less energy.
