Hi I know it’s a stupid question but this is the second time that my Steamdeck has been returned (For free so big thanks to Valve for their after-sales service) and so I asked myself a stupid question, what are the others doing so as not to bug their integrated controller ?

So I would like to know what you do:

-Do you use DeckyLoader ? (If yes with which plugin)

-Do you play games with lutrice or heroic games ?

-Do you often leave the deck in sleep mode ?

-Do you leave your deck plugged in often ? (like next to your bed or in the living room)

-Do you use the deck like a computer by installing software and using it on gaming mod like Krita or internet browsers like Opera ? (What software do you have ?)

-Do you often use the deck (for game and more) for big sessions of 2 to 3 hours nonstop ?

(Spoiler alert I do all of that)

Here I am asking to avoid making the same mistake twice… thrice… and enjoy my deck again without being an idiot.

I shouldn´'t have mentioned them anyway. A virtual machine is basically an operating system running on top of another operating system. Just my solution for not having to install things on the steam deck itself, but just not installing too many things is of course a better option ^^
Installing unsupported plugins like deckly loader and using unsupported launchers like lutris or heroic probably are the worst offenders for giving an unstable user experience. If you just stuck to the officially supported stuff I´m sure things will stay working as they should.

In case it ever breaks down, and your out of the warranty period, know you can always re-install the operating system yourself too. The thing´ll be as good as new after that :D

Nah I literally reimaged the software and it still bugs I think the bug is in the software of the integrated controller, and third party software from Decky and others does not void the warranty I haven’t paid my returns.

In any case, the virtual machine is interesting, I’m going to find out a little more about it.

It does not void the warranty, but I meant to say that it´s just not officially supported. Community maintained projects like that can often exhibit less-then-ideal user experiences, people could interpret that as being “broken”. From the sound of it that´s not the case with you though :) What kind of issue did you have that the cause might be the controller firmware?
