• money is not an issue
  • never will use it for gaming, just excel and opening 200+ tabs on chrome.
  • worried if I get the i9, the arctic freezer II 360 aio, plus four additional 140mm fans won’t be able to cool the 14900. I want idle speeds to be under 40c and never go above 60c when using it.
  • I understand that I don’t even need an i7 or i9, I do it because I wanna have to PC for the next ten years and have no problems and because I can. “Futureproofing for these basic functions”
  • will I notice any differences between the 14900 and 14700 when opening chrome? Will have 64gb of ram.

    You’re crazy.

I have a 13900k, which is very close to a 14900k in terms of heat.

I have an arctic freezer II 360.

Idle is about ambient. But I have actively optimised for this. I want power consumption as low as possible.

I used LLC undervolting. Under maximum load, which it rarely hits, it uses about 235W. Temperatures hit about 75C with 20C ambient.

60C I don’t see a possible short of exotic cooling (delidding, direct die, custom waterblock etc) or heavily power restricting the processor.

if you want 200+ tabs in chrome, get as much memory as you can afford, it’s that simple.
