“Apple attempts a mid cycle refresh after alarmingly disappointing sales of their laptop line.” Really disappointed with this announcement.
Still 8gb ram on the $1599 14” 😭
This model is going to be a battery champion. It’s rated at 22 Hours apple TV which is the same rating as the 16" MBP. The M2 13 MBP was rated at 20 Hours.
I promise it’s enough for 98% of people.
Really should be starting at 16gb by now and the base Pro and Max chips should have 24gb at least.
It would even be fine to start at 32G. A single 32GB DDR5-4800 SO-DIMM is like 80€. 8G is beyond criminal.
8G is beyond criminal
8G is just Apple being Apple, and idiots giving them money.
I knew the price drop came with a catch. We can consider this an $1800 computer since Apple is still nickel and diming people for their storage
Isn’t this thread about the chips?
And it will still sell like hotcakes.
The mac I bought in 2012 had 16 GB of RAM.
Apple is a good stock.
I’ve been a big fan for decades but I’m really tired of this. My iCloud went down for an entire day a couple weeks ago and they wasted my time on the support line only to eventually say “oh I see what’s up, we can’t tell you but just wait twelve hours and it will work again.” I don’t know what’s going on with this company but the software is getting bad and their hardware configs are ridiculous. Any good recommendations on powerful laptops for if I want to jump ship?
People still think of RAM like it’s the early 2000’s. Hasn’t been much of a factor since M1. It’s just overanalyzing, fomo BS YouTubers create, and ironically could create on a base MBA.
You know the truth. 8gb is for people who just want a mac for light stuff like typing or browsing. You are meant to pay more if you want more. 8gb is pitched to be functional for those who don’t care, and fir those that do care? You pay more.
How much is the 14 inch with m3 pro???
- Same as before
So 13in MacBook pros are discontinued?
They will bring it back as a feature in 7 years
Good ridance.
So 13in MacBook pros are discontinued?
Likely done for the purpose of economies of scale.
The sheer volume of MBP 13" M1 & M2 buyers would have improved the MBP 14" volumes when the M3 was used with it.
Same logic applies to Mac mini being so “empty” for the M1, M2 & likely M3 as it helps subsidizes the lower volume M2 Pro & M3 Pro.
The M* Max chips subsidizes the M* Ultra inside each Mac Studio considering a M* Max chip can fit into the same chasis as a MBP 14"/16". When pushed you can put a M* Max chip inside a Mac mini.
Of course HSF noise would be PC OEM-level annoying.
are any of the macbook pros more powerful than the maxed out Mac Studio?
Did they actually lower the base RAM in the “”“Pro”“” Models? Thats embarsassing
Hype! Gonna grab foods and drinks for week long urban camping trip 😉
Imagine shelling out $1000+ for 8GB of non-upgradeable RAM….
It was hilarious how they kept comparing it to the M1, not the M2.
I’m curious why they would only include AV1 decode and not encode. Considering that creatives are supposed to be a significant part of their target audience, I would’ve assumed that AV1 hardware encode would’ve been pretty valuable.
still no new 27" imac.
24" too small, and I dont want to buy a mac mini or studio…
Oh look the same product just more expensive!
as an Intel guy…can’t wait for this.
My post processing has been ass slow for years but I tolerated it. Wooohoooo
Currently have an m2 MacBook Pro 16” on order (ordered just before the event was announced).
Still going with it. Is that too conservative?
Yes get the m3
That space black though 😮💨 def getting that color when my M1 decides to kick the bed
