Just transferred my Sabrent Rocket to my new OLED steam deck, took it nice and slow, got there eventually but it genuinely feels like Valve went out of their way to make it more difficult with the glued ribbon cable and little wire attached to the cover.

Hoping I don’t have to touch it again. The new screen is amazing though, my biggest issue with the LCD was the awful light bleed, now it’s just inky blacks! No regrets.

They weren’t great but I didn’t find them a huge issue. The trick with screws into plastic is to turn them anti-clockwise first until they locate into the thread track then tighten but the new ones are infinitely better for sure.

Aside from having to run the ribbon over the plate cover I would say I think this design is more streamlined to work on. The new screws are certainly an improvement over the old ones. The LCD version also had thermal pads attached to the underside of the plate that would pick up dust and things if you weren’t careful. The OLED plate is bare.

It was the little cable underneath that I found difficult. Seemed like there was a fabric hook holding it to the shield. Had to just lift it slightly and work around it.
