There is definitely a false equivalence there. There are safe and non addictive levels of both of those substances. That is not true of nicotine, or it is and it is so small as to not be a realistic level.
There should be more help and investment to get people out of chronic and unhealthy relationships with food and alcohol. Maybe going as far as legally compulsory programs for people to stop them becoming a drain on programs which takes services away from those who’s issues are not ultimately self imposed. However a total ban would be heavy handed.
You’re right. We need to ban alcohol and fried foods too because they are a burden on the taxpayer.
